Star gazing in Tekapo
Tekapo is famous for its star gazing and even though quite a lot of Lord of the Rings was filmed there, those are not the kind of stars I am talking about! Tekapo is known to have the worldβs clearest night skies and can give you some of THE most stunning sights; provided the cloud gods are in your favour. You can see the Milky Way and look at t clusters of beautiful stars up-close through the observatory at Mt. John. If you are a photography buff like me, stop by at the Old Church of the Good Shepherd near Lake Tekapo, for a more relaxed sighting and definitely a more comfortable spot to click away.
Perching on a bench near Lake Tekapo with a beer, staring at the night sky with a million twinkling stars would make you wish that life had a pause button.
Also, as long as you are in Tekapo, go for a dip in the, extremely cold (3-4), pristine and exquisite waters of Lake Tekapo, and then sun bathe on the nearby rocks. It is considered healthy to be THAT relaxed.
A place I have yet to make it to. I so look forward to going to one day though, especially for views like that! (:
Yeah incomparable to any other place on the planet!
I’m a New Zealander and I don’t think there is a more magical place on earth!
No arguments there!! Waiting to get back there!
never really had a huge desire to travel there, but seems pretty awesome! π
Ah NZ is definitely one of the most wonderful countries! Its my favourite destination for its natural beauty.
Manan you have really stoked my fire again – that might sound rashly inappropriate but you know what I mean π
lovely pictures too…
Hahaha! I’d be flattered either way. I’d like to know more when we meet though!
But thanks a lot man π
I was so close (when in Australia)… but never made it here. Maybe one day. Thanks for linking up to #SundayTraveler again.
Hope you do get to go soon! π
This country is just very beautiful ! Its the best place I have been to until now in my life
It is just heaven on earth! π π
Couldn’t agree more Manan. Nice to hear from you π
New Zealand is just so amazing. I feel like I would need a whole year to explore the country properly.
NZ certainly is magnificent Adelina! I met many people in New Zealand who were living there for over a year on a working holiday visa, working for 3-4 days of the week and travelling for the rest. Seemed like the best way to see New Zealand for a prolonged time and on an economical budget.
New Zealand is always been my fascination….I will definitely visit there to the land of wonders..
